Transactional search intent Optimisation
What is search intent, why is transactional search intent important?
‘Search intent’ is Google speak for discovering the reason behind a user’s search. What do they want.
Intent is important as it gives SEOs insight into which keywords could result in a sale.

Drive Sales:
Ready steady buy
Show me the money
If you sell products or services, transaction search intent optimisation is what you want to concentrate on.
Transactional search intent is where the user has turned consumer and is ready to BUY. This is “where the money is.” Search intent is also known as query intent or user intent.
- There are five broad types of search intent.
- Informational Intent
- Navigational intent (take me to a website)
- Commercial Intent (purchase options)
- Transactional Intent (make a purchase)
- Local Search Intent: SEO Company near me, nearest chemist, Dentist London.
We can ignore the first two as we are only concerned with the business viability of optimising for transactional search.
VC has written over 5000 pages of content. The vast majority is product and service content, not informational content like blogs or guides.
The reason is that blogs are often seen as giving away content. There is little value to any location-based bricks and mortar business competing in the information area.
Why writing blogs and guides are often a waste of money
Even if the reader thinks you are an expert and a perfect match, if you are not local you are their wasting my time.
It is much more of an e-commerce strategy.
Optimising for transactional search intent is not such a waste of time.
With the right offer or USP, there is always the chance of a sale. We hear of patients driving 100 miles to see the right dentist. Who hasn’t driven halfway around the UK for the right car, or to grab a bargain?
Optimising for transactional search is easy for an ecommerce website as Google will recognise the software and the site is already complete with buying words.
These include cart, checkout, discounts, sales etc.
When the transaction is not an immediate purchase then this is where TSI optimisation comes in.
Below we have created a list of words that would indicate that the website is a commercial enterprise or a business.
These words are the first place to star to ensure when users are ready to buy they find your website first.
There are other coding options to be discussed that can introduce products, categories etc into your code.
